Betty Fitterman

  • Was an award-winning copywriter and advertising agency owner before quitting it all to get in a bus and take to the road.  Three years down that highway, I am writing a novel about a woman who takes to the road in a motor coach.  Quel coincidence.  My style is kind of Erma Bombeck meets Nora Ephron meets David Sedaris.  Which is to say, light comedy with a message, even if that message is also light.

  • Published in Sage Magazine (Canada) and online at www.topretirements.com.  Commercials for Johnson & Johnson and Ricola Cough Drops are still on air.
  • When I’m not driving or writing, I also make jewelry for rock bands like Kiss and Styx, but that’s another story.

  • Day job/secret identity: Editor-in-Chief of Mopjockey.com
  • Websites: www.mopjockey.com, www.facebook.com/jca18
  • Reading/Writing Interests: Have not yet submitted articles to professionals or published a book, but I’ve been writing on the internet quite extensively for the past 12 years, mostly in gaming and computer forums, as “TheDS”. (Currently suing Nintendo for trademark infringement.) I have credits in at least three boardgames, one computer game, and one roleplaying game book.
  • Bio: In 2004 I moved from Indiana to Florida. I spent 6 years in the Navy, most of them on LHD5 Bataan in Virginia and Mississippi. I drove a truck across country for 4 years. I have public speaking/presentation experience, and my mom says I’m a natural teacher.
  • Why You Should Know Me: First, I regularly review people, places, and things of interest on my website, making me a source of publicity for you or your product. Talk to me if you want some spotlight time. Second, I’m currently studying three things you’ll want to get in on: how to increase fame (so people will buy something just because it has my name on it (often called “The Snookie Factor”)), learning how to set up income streams without having to put a lot of work into them (I want an income, not a job), and how to be better at communication and persuasion (which translates into being a better writer, critiquer, speaker, salesman, lover, politician, etc). I’m currently using my website/blog in the pursuit of these goals, and looking for others who would like to join a team intent on CREATING opportunity for itself. Third, I know a lot about computers and the internet in general and can probably answer many of your questions about them, both in real life and in your stories.
